Year 9 House Football

Phoenix faced Braveheart in the first of today's two semi-finals. A closely fought game was settled by 2 goals to nil as Phoenix showed a more ruthless streak in front of goal. The other semi-final saw Griffin defeat Viking by a goal to nil.

Viking secured 3rd place overall in their next game by winning by a single goal against Braveheart.

The final itself was a tight game with Griffin dominating the best chances. No-one was able to break the deadlock however and a large crowd witnessed the first sudden death penalty shootout to decide the Year 9 champions. Phoenix scored with their first penalty and, unluckily for Griffin, the Phoenix goalkeeper proved to be a great shot-stopper by saving Griffin's first attempt from the spot.

Highlights from today's games are below.

The 3rd/4th place play-off was a largely one-sided game and Phoenix defeated Griffin with some ease 3-0. The final itself saw Viking defeat Braveheart by the same score.
